FINALLY!!! OG Tote Bag
I was honestly trying to flush out another idea when this one came to me and I don’t even remember what that was. All I know is that my spirit was telling me to keep creating. So while in the trial and error phase of a different prototype I got the idea for this bag.
The idea was for a simple reusable bag at its core. The fact that the bag needed colored fabric that adorns this distinctive paisley print, well, that just made my heart sing. The version with lining and a closure was established after the prototype. I realized that even some simple bags still need a bit of reinforcement. Since bandanas are usually square and most comfortable tote bags are rectangle in shape, I found the dimensions that I believed would make a good size for a reusable tote.
The significance of a bandana and what it represents to some communities and cultures isn’t lost on me so I’ve been intentional with the color choices that are offered so as to not offend or alienate any community. I’m also aware that I’m not first, nor will I be the last to make a bag or some other form of wearable out of this cloth, but having the idea, I needed to see it in physical form. And it’s always the making that’s the most fun, frustrating, interesting mundane part of a project that needs to be followed through to finished product.
Here it is. Simple, fun, cute and utility in a decades old design. Hope you like it!!
